Project Annual Event of “Green Scrap Metal Thailand 2020: Today for Tomorrow”

Department of Primary Industries and Mines (DPIM) in cooperation with United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the related agencies have collaborated to officially launch the first Annual Event of “Green Scrap Metal Thailand 2020: Today for Tomorrow” on Friday 30 October 2020 at Pathumwan Princess Hotel, Bangkok. Adapting to the New Normal, the event was held in a form of hybrid event (virtual and physical participation) consists of 244 participants from both public and private sectors, press media, educational institutes. For virtual participation, 64 viewers from Zoom conference and several hundreds online viewers via project facebook page were participated. 

In the morning session, UNIDO Director and Representative, Director-General of DPIM along with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry joined the opening session. Other highlighted event activities include the Signing Ceremony for greening the scrap metal recycling facilities between UNIDO and 4 pilot plants, the presentation about the project progress outcome, and the Panel discussion with honorable speakers from public and private sectors related to metal scrap supply under the topic of “Green scrap metal Thailand: Today for Tomorrow”.

In the afternoon session, the project campaign of the video clip contest under the concept "How to recycle the scrap metal and eliminate U-POPs" was held. Being well-received by the national media and the related agencies, 4 Finalists were selected out from 51 registered applicants who ranged from primary school, high school to university level, and general public.
